Dear Octavian,

I have received an automatic message from the CEV Online Community notifying
that several users have not visited the CEV Online Community for more than 6
months and their profile will be automatically deleted, including your
profile.

I am writing to you to find out whether you wish to be deleted from the
Online Community, or whether you would like to keep your membership - in
this case you need to log in and the deactivation process will be dropped.
If you forgot your password, there is a button to recover your password at
the starting page.

There are some improvements to the Online Community that we are working on
that were proposed based on results of the Online Community Survey in which
we asked all CEV members (also non-members on the Online Community) what
they would like to change about it (and those who are not in yet, what would
motivate them to sign-up). Following the survey results, we are planning:

-          To open the CEV Online Community to non-CEV members, who are
experts from the volunteering field and can bring added value and contribute
with their expertise and experience to the Community

-          To link it with facebook - a CEV facebook page will be created
where all new uploads to the Online Community will be posted as feeds and
consequently Online Community members will be able to 'like' or comment on
the uploads

-          To give you greater possibility to interact with other members -
you will be able to 'handpick' concrete recipients of your message, or to
reach people based on concrete 'characteristics' (f.e. you want to send a
message to all 'interested' in employee volunteering, etc...)and in addition
you will be able to reach all, if you want to f.e. circulate a general call,
inform everyone on Position paper you have prepared, etc...

-          The topic categories will be changed in a way bringing more
clearity and easing the navigation on the website. Each topic page will
showcase projects people have uploaded that are related to the theme,
messages people have sent and resources that relate to it. Also, you will
see who is 'interested' in the category, which can be useful if you are,
f.e. searching for a speaker on a certain topic.

These are a few examples of the prepared changes. In the meantime, you can
still use the growing database of useful resources. Among the latest
resources you can find a CEV Position Paper on the Financial and Economic
Crisis, a series of reports, photos and videos on development cooperation
projects uploaded by VSO and the Brussels Declaration, which was prepared
based on conclusions of the CEV General Assembly and Symposium in Brussels,
on 7th and 8th December 2010 and which summarises 43 concrete steps to be
taken and adopted by the EU decision-makers in order to create a
volunteer-friendly environment and highlight the value volunteers bring to
our societies.

These are only a few examples of what is there at the Online Community. You
are welcome and most encouraged to use it to inform your CEV colleagues on
your projects and calls, as an alternative and more interactive way for
circulating messages.

In addition to all the mentioned, CEV has adopted a new good practice -
reimbursement of costs to attend a CEV General Assembly and Symposium of own
choice for those who upload the most messages/projects/resources and a
random member of the Online Community, allotted publicly at the CEV GA.
(winners who are not present are informed consequently by email.) Another
reason to stay connected to the Online Community, apart from its usefulness!
