For this, the UNV publi= shed calls for contracted consultants =E2=80=93 experts who study and are f= amiliar with volunteerism. For you, it might be a chance to get involved an= d provide invaluable input.=20 This first State of the World=E2=80=99s Volunteerism Report (SWVR) produced= by the United Nations will present an alternative vision to the one widely= prevailing today as regards what volunteerism is and why it is important. = It will address first what is meant by volunteerism, why people volunteer t= heir time, what are the manifold ways people choose to volunteer, and the i= mpact of this volunteer engagement. The Report will then take up a number o= f key global issues that intersect with volunteerism, selected because of t= heir critical nature and/or because of ongoing polarized discourse around t= hem. The final section of the Report will be forward looking with conclusio= ns and recommendations that should assist policy makers, practitioners, res= earchers and all other concerned stakeholders; including the people who par= ticipate in and direct the benefits from volunteer action, to arrive at a b= etter understanding of what volunteerism is about and to come up with sugge= stions on ways and means to ensure that it=E2=80=99s potential to contribut= e to some major issues of our time is properly addressed. The report will b= e launched on International Volunteer day 5 December 2011. In relation to this project, there are two calls for contracted consultants= for larger background papers. Further information about the calls, duties = and responsibilities, time-frame, required skills and competences and appli= cation instructions are provided under the following links.=20 1.=09Large Background Paper 1: http://jobs.undp.org/cj_view_job.cfm?job_id= =3D19253=20 2.=09Large Background Paper 2: http://jobs.undp.org/cj_view_job.cfm?job_id= =3D19251 Please note the deadline for submitting Curriculum Vitae/R=C3=A9sum=C3=A9s = is 6 October.
