Finishing Techniques Most circular garments are seamless. In fact, you will find no instructions for sewing seams anywhere in this chapter on finishing. Aside from seaming, however, finishing circular garments well involves exactly the same techniques as finishing flat garments: binding off, picking up stitches, and weaving in ends. Pay attention to these details, and your finishing can be as perfect as your knitting.
The best cast on to use is the Half-Hitch (see page 302) because it’s not bulky. Hold the needle so that the working yarn hangs from the left end of the needle. ë Without turning, slide the stitches to the right end of the needle and put it in your left hand. í Pull the working yarn across the back, knit across. The first stitch tends to be loose, so pull firmly on the yarn after you complete that stitch. í Pull working yarn across back, and knit first stitch.
